When Adam’s grandfather dies in a car accident, his final words warn Adam of a family secret.
At the funeral, a mysterious man named Solomon Leow begins asking about an old, lost book. Adam initially ignores him, but then he starts to hear Leow’s voice in his head. He lures Adam to a junkyard, where Adam uncovers the book concealed in the wreck of his grandfather’s car. It is a book of Kabbalah, Jewish mysticism, and contains a spell for creating a golem, a creature fashioned from clay and given the breath of life from a human. Leow is determined to use the spell to reanimate his dead daughter, and as Adam attempts to stop him he realizes he’s more connected to the magic in the book than he thought.
This short horror novel is a high-interest, low-reading-level book for teen readers who are building reading skills, want a quick read or say they don’t like to read!
