Orca Series for Reluctant Readers

Orca publishes the best hi-lo fiction for your struggling readers. Hi-Lo is a term used to describe high-interest, low-readability (also sometimes defined as high-interest, low-vocabulary) books. These are novels of interest for middle and high school readers, but with reading levels below grade five.

Orca uses the Fry leveling method and the numbers listed next to each book refer to a grade. Other leveling systems such as Accelerated Reader and Lexiles are available for most titles. Please contact us for more information.

Orca offers the bestselling titles in all hi-lo reading series as Essential Collections. If you have struggling readers, but you're not sure what to order, try the Orca Hi-Lo Essential Collection.
