Jean-Claude Corbeil
Jean-Claude Corbeil pursued studies in linguistics at the universities of Montreal and Strasbourg before beginning his career in secondary education as a French language teacher. He later became a professor of linguistics at the University of Montreal, director of the Office de la langue française du Québec, and secretary general of the International Council for Research and Study in Fundamental and Applied Linguistics (CIRELFA), before being named an Officer of the National Order of Quebec in 2005. Over the years, he has gained an enviable reputation in the fields of sociolinguistics, lexicology, and comparative terminology. He developed the collection of visual dictionaries in collaboration with the late Ariane Archambault, a graduate in applied linguistics from the Universities of Montreal and Besançon.
