Top Ten All Time Bestsellers

This month's top ten are Orca's all time bestsellers. They range from 57, 997 copies sold to 23, 090 copies sold; the oldest, Tuesday Cafe, was published in 1996, and the newest, Alphabetter, in 2006.

1. Waiting for the Whales, by Sheryl McFarlane, illustrated by Ron Lightburn, 2002.
An old man and his family enjoy the yearly return of a pod of whales together. Waiting for the Whales is a picturebook.

2. Alphabetter, by Dan Bar-el, illustrated by Graham Ross, 2006.
In this silly alphabet book, nothing is quite right, until you turn the page... Alphabetter is a picturebook.

3. Moccasin Goalie, written and illustrated by William Roy Brownridge, 2001.
Danny and his friends, Anita, Petou and Marcel, are typical prairie youngsters—hockey mad. One day a town team, the Wolves, is formed. The friends are overjoyed, but when the time comes to choose the team, only Marcel is picked. The other three friends are not chosen; Anita is a girl, Petou is too small and Danny cannot skate. Will Danny and his friends get a chance to play? The Moccasin Goalie is a picturebook.

4. Final Game, written and illustrated by William Roy Brownridge, 2001.
Danny and his friends Petou and Anita live for hockey. So when they are asked to join the Wolves late in the season, they are determined to do their best for the town team. Final Game is a picturebook.

5. Jessie's Island, by Sheryl McFarlane, illustrated by Sheena Lott, 2002.
Cousin Thomas paints a picture of city life which makes Jessie's world seem a little dull in comparison. When her mother suggests they invite Thomas to visit their island, Jessie wonders glumly what she could possibly write in her letter that would sound as exciting as zoos, planetariums or video arcades.Jessie's Island is a picturebook.

6. Tuesday Cafe, by Don Trembath, 1996.
It started with a 2000-word essay ordered by a juvenile court judge, and then a writing class... what has Harper gotten into? Tuesday Cafe is a teen novel.

7.Belle's Journey, by Marilynn Reynolds, illustrated by Stephen McCallum, 1993.
One winter day on the way home from piano lessons, Molly and Belle become lost in a sudden blizzard. And Belle, old and stiff as she is, confronts the terrible storm with every ounce of will she possesses. No matter what, Belle will not give up until she brings Molly home. Belle's Journey is a picturebook.

8. Rescue Pup, by Jean Little, 2004.
Shakespeare is a Seeing Eye puppy, learning to become a guide dog. But he will get into so many dangerous situations along the way that he'll become a Rescue Pup as well! Rescue Pup is an Orca Young Readers book.

9. War of the Eagles, by Eric Walters, 1998.
Jed's allegiance to his country is challenged when his best friend Tadashi, along with the other members of the nearby Japanese village, are declared enemy aliens and told to prepare to leave their homes. War of the Eagles is a teen novel.

10. Sticks and Stones, by Beth Goobie, 2002.
Jujube gathers all the other girls who are labelled sluts—and worse—and tries to impress on her fellow students the damage that can be done by assigning a label that reduces a person to an object. Sticks and Stones is an Orca Soundings novel.
