Learn about Caves with Pat SkeneIn my new book, Rhyme Stones, the first story is called "Cecil Goes Spelunking." A 'spelunker' is a person who explores caves. Sometimes, caves get a bad rap because people think they are dark and scary, and full of bats and wild animals. And while they can be all those things, there are also many caves that are beautiful and safe and almost magical inside. I’ve visited many show caves in the US and it’s one of my favorite things to do. Once I saw a pile of guano (bat poop) in a cave that was fifteen feet high! And it didn't smell at all! Guano is an excellent fertilizer because it contains lots of phosphorous and nitrogen and it has no smell—which is a good thing! If you would like to go spelunking and see some awesome cave formations and incredible sights, get ready to be amazed. Right from the comfort of your computer, you can click on the links below and explore the wonders of the underground universe. Happy spelunking!
